Smith Spokesman Week 1
It was great to see all our students on the first week of school! They came in with big smiles and great attitudes. The first week of school is not a typical week and is full of discussions, routines, and bonding. Not to mention all the Covid19 protocols.
My weekly communication is in the form of this, a newsletter, in hardcopy, and in pink. This Smith Spokesman comes home most every Friday and shows what was assigned to your student AND what your student returned. Please sign this and return on the following Monday - or in this case, Tuesday. I try to send them out weekly, each Friday, and I’ll try to keep highlights and important information on our class blog: https://smithclass2022.blogspot.com/ as well. Click on and follow us!
As I’m sure you have noticed, I also communicate via email. The email goes through whichever email address(es) you have listed on your student's registration. You should have received 3 from me so far! If you haven’t, please double-check with the office - I am not able to change your email address in the system. They may tell you to go into ParentVue and make the changes yourself.
Expect to see your students’ Student Planner and sign off on it weekly (Thursday nights - due Friday) to ensure your student has recorded our assignments. What wasn’t completed during the day becomes home-work. Please choose a place for your signature and return them on Friday. We will begin signing off on these planners next week - but we did practice this week. Did you see it? If I got it returned with your signature I have marked it with an X below.
You should have received a large envelope with paperwork inside. Please take a moment to complete it and return it inside the same large envelope (we reuse them). Also, please bring in your PPS chromebook if you have one - we will take care of it. Everyone in grade 5 will receive a new one in October.
Lastly - several students have brought in items that ARE NOT school supplies (fidgets, electric pencil sharpener, stuffies, etc.) and those will need to go back home. Thank you for understanding.
